Künefe or Kanafa is a cheese pastry soaked in sweet syrup, typical of the regions belonging to the former Ottoman Empire. I revisited the Turkish variant of the pastry called Künefe with a semi-soft cheese “Hatay peyniri”, (cheese of Hatay) which is made of raw milk and added a chocolate – hazelnut spread within the cheese filling.
